Our Heritage:

Cornwallis Crescent in Bristol is designed in a late Georgian style, characterised by a curved, terraced street with private communal gardens. The buildings, typically constructed of brick with limestone detailing, often feature original period features like high ceilings, ornate cornices, and sash windows. The crescent is a Grade II* listed historic terrace located within the Clifton conservation area.

Historical importance

Building work on Cornwallis Crescent started in 1791, possibly under William Paty (the British surveyor, architect and mason) but stopped in 1793 due to the bankruptcy of the developers. It was officially completed by 1827.

The communal gardens in the east and west part of the Crescent were completed in 1880.
